local anesthesia of mouth, throat and larynx

Trachospray

Innovative spray device

Together with academic partners, Medspray is developing a medical device for local anesthesia of a patient’s oropharynx and upper trachea based on the concept of an aerosol inhaler, delivering just a small fraction of the aerosol to the lungs and mainly covering the mucosa of mouth and throat, down to the vocal cords.

Patient Comfort

The topical anesthesia is needed to make intubation or bronchoscopy tolerable for the patient. Current practice, a spray pump, followed by an elongated spray tube, requires skill and often uses different concentrations of the anesthetizing liquid. The ‘Trachospray’ device delivers the local anesthesia evenly over the patients oropharyngeal mucosa.

CE certification

Medspray is ISO 13485 certified on development and manufacturing of our aerosol based products. The Trachospray has a CE medical device registration.

Intuitive use

The ‘Trachospray’ device is easy to use and easy to teach. The medical professional prepares a syringe with an anesthetic, approved for oropharyngeal delivery and connects the syringe to the device.
The patient is asked to take slow aspirations through the mouth using the devices’ mouthpiece, while the medical professional empties the the syringe.

A quick and easy way to apply local anesthetics to the right area.
