Medspray devices used in research on the spread of droplets

Medspray aerosol technology vs. COVID-19

Spread of COVID-19

Medspray has provided several research institutes with aerosol devices and measurement technology to help them investigate the behavior of aerosols in certain areas. By mimicking human breath and coughs, we will continue to help them find countermeasures against the spread of COVID-19.

Mimic the output

With our technology, we can mimic the output of aerosol droplets: the tiny drops that we as humans emit while speaking and breathing. Medspray has started working with research institutes to provide aerosol devices and supportive measurements in our in-house characterization laboratory. This allows researchers to investigate how long droplets remain in the air inside certain environments.

Aerosol droplets

Several studies conducted abroad have found that aerosol droplets emitted by humans can remain in unventilated areas for several minutes. Especially when they have just the right size, the droplets will stay in the air for a long time, resulting in a high risk for spreading the virus.

It is assumed that one of the root causes of spreading the COVID-19 virus are small aerosol droplets from infected persons, especially when emitted in badly ventilated areas. Over the last year, we have seen a significant amount of research done on how these droplets are spread. Of course, insights in the spread will consequently allow us to create more effective countermeasures to the virus.

Prevent the spread of aerosol droplets

Over the last months, Medspray has worked together with research institutes and provided them with the tools to investigate how long aerosol stay inside various environments. The data generated by the aerosol devices can be used to find countermeasures to prevent the spread of aerosol droplets in the future. In the upcoming months, Medspray will continue to give full support to the research institutes by committing our knowledge and technology in the fight against the spread of COVID-19.
