Medspray collaborates to develop innovative active humidifier
Medspray recently partnered with PCV Group and Unitron to develop an innovative active humidifier. The novel approach, focusing on absolute humidity control, promises to revolutionize respiratory care.
Revamping humidification
Patients requiring invasive mechanical ventilation often face pulmonary complications due to the dry and cold air commonly found in healthcare facilities. Existing active respiratory gas humidifiers address this issue by directing the air over a heated water bath. But this technology leaves much room for enhancement and has yet to see significant innovations. With a unique approach to active humidification, Medspray’s new project brings a fresh perspective to the field. This innovative humidifier controls absolute humidity instead of relative humidity, allowing for much more precise regulation of target humidity and diminishing dependence on external conditions or the brand or type of the ventilator.
Implications for the future
Not only does this technology provide greater control over circuit condensation, but it also allows for a significant boost in the efficiency of medication delivery. This enhanced medication delivery is made possible by temporarily decreasing humidity during nebulization. These opportunities for improved medication delivery highlight our commitment to continual innovation in healthcare solutions.
Stay tuned for updates and breakthroughs in this project, as Medspray takes its first strides in this groundbreaking endeavour and towards shaping the future of respiratory care.

Surterra Wellness supplies medical marijuanas products to customers, who use the products for a wide range of therapeutic benefits. Medspray has developed a soft mist inhaler device for Surterra’s CBD formulations. The Ecomyst90 device is easy to use and has a high lung dose.
Medspray has provided several research institutes with aerosol devices and measurement technology to help them investigate the behavior of aerosols in certain areas. By mimicking human breath and coughs, we will continue to help them find countermeasures against the spread of COVID-19.
Medspray is developing a novel soft mist inhaler platform based on pre filled syringes, utilising existing filling lines. The device is pocket size and has a high lung dose (>50% of the metered dose).
Medspray Anesthesia is a spin-off from Medspray, developing the Trachospray device for local anesthesia prior to intubation, bronchoscopy, or gastroscopy.
